One of the leading causes of death in the United States is sudden cardiac arrest,
resulting in about 250,000 deaths each year. In addition, drowning, suffocations,
electrocutions, and drug intoxication cause cardiac arrest. Many deaths can be prevented
if the victims receive early CPR, early automated external defibrillation (AED)
and early advanced care by trained EMS professionals.
Infants, children and adults have all their own basic life support techniques. It
is important, that every one gets trained in all the different age groups
History of pediatrics

Abū Bakr Muhammad ibn Zakarīya was a Persian alchemist, chemist, physician,
philosopher and scholar. According to Biruni, Razi was born in Rayy, Iran, in the
year 865 AD (251 AH), and died there in 925 AD (313 AH).
Razi made fundamental and enduring contributions to the fields of medicine, alchemy,
and philosophy, recorded in over 184 books and articles in various fields of science.
He was well-versed in Persian, Greek and Indian medical knowledge and made numerous
advances in medicine through own observations and discoveries.[1] He was an early
proponent of experimental medicine and is considered the father of pediatrics.[2]
He was also a pioneer of neurosurgery and ophthalmology.[3]
George Sarton, the father of the history of science, wrote :
In the 10th century, the famous Persian physician Rhazes (Muhammad ibn Zakarīya
Rāzi) wrote The Diseases of Children, the first book to deal with pediatrics
as an independant field of medicine.[1] For this reason, some medical historians
consider him the father of pediatrics"Rhazes was the greatest physician of Islam
and the Medieval Ages." (Source: wikipedia.com)
